Raise a hand if you are a SmartWater bottle user when you hit the backcountry.
I know I was.
With your other hand, smack the back of your hand...NO MORE SINGLE USE PLASTIC! The number of single use plastic bottles in our land fills and oceans is staggering, and only getting worse because these products do not break down. Not to mention the environmental impact it takes to even create them!
So what can you do to make a difference? REUSABLE BOTTLES!
Our Top Recommendation? Hydrapak Softsided
These are made out of TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane) which IS a green product and some companies are adding organic molecule chains to make the product biodegradable (takes years but still a step in the right direction). This material allows for soft sided, flexible, and tough water bottles that can stand up to the rigors of backpacking. I currently use a 600mL flask w/ long straw attachment on my shoulder strap pouch and carry the 2L Seeker for easy water refills. Together, this weighs ~4.6 oz!
They also sell 0.5L and 1L flasks for all your backcountry whisky needs!
There are plenty of soft sided flask styles and companies out there. Start your search with trail running companies as they have really capitalized on these soft sided flasks for their vests.

Reusable Options
